I think we solved the problem. We put Maddie back here.
Ha ha, ya right, possum! She just likes to jump in Ella's crib!
We did try something new though and I wanted to share! Thanks for all the comments and ideas on the bedtime post... I really appreciate knowing I'm not the only one struggling through it! You who are checking back to see the advice may not have seen the last comment from my friend Krista--it was exactly the kind of idea I was looking for!!!
She said she made three flowers and taped them in a flower pot to the side of her daughter Kate's dresser. If Kate got up or called Krista in, she lost a flower, and when all three were gone she would lose her blanket and Mom would not come in again.
Sooooooooo... yesterday Maddie helped me make these three little flowers out of felt, buttons, and pipe cleaners, and we hung them on her dresser. I tried to make a really big deal about how they were just for her and how pretty they were. At bed time, I asked her if she liked them, and if she wanted to keep them, and she excitedly said yes. I explained that if she got up she would lose them one by one, and if they were all gone, Mommy got to sleep with Elmo. All she had to do to keep them was stay in her bed! She was pretty excited about it, and apparently wanted to prove she could keep them because...
NOT A PEEP!!!
(We will see if the charm lasts, although any progress is exciting. We thought we'd start with something a little more harmless than locking her in her room... although we were surprised how many parents out there have resorted to just that! :)

Oh my word Lauren! Could you be any cuter! My child would get construction paper flowers. You really are too cute. You should turn a few into hair bows! So fun. And glad to hear it went well.
Yay MAddie! That is an awesome idea... I will probably be using it soon. Ugh! I'm excited to try it but scared for what sleep I might be losing. The flowers are so cute! Did you sew them and everything with all the little details? So cute, I love it. And Mom said you've been sick. :( I am so sorry. Is it still the flu from us lingereing around?
I was thinking those would be cute hair bows too.
Those are awesome! You could sell them. And what a great positive way to motivate a child. I wish my frustration had allowed my mind to be that creative. I may have to copy you and make something like this for potty training... urgh!
adorable flowers! I might just make some for Ella because they are so cute.
Wow - that's really cool. You're such a neat mommy. :)
YAY I'm so glad it WORKED! And I KNEW your flowers would be way cuter than mine! HA HA! Eh, there's a reason I haven't blogged pictures of my flowers. But now I'm inspired to make new ones...
