Birthday Boy

Mike's 43rd birthday landed on a Sunday. That morning we attended the baby blessing our our newest nephew Nolan Jensen Sherwood, and enjoyed visiting with the Jensen side. That afternoon, the Nelson's and Mike's mom joined us at our house for Mike and Rachel's birthday dinner.

Before all the people came, I asked Mike to open his present. It had been a loooooong time coming...

A new mattress! It's memory foam so it came packaged in what seemed like a tiny box, but once the plastic was cut open it inflated to its full size. For a stomach sleeper like Mike it's perfect, and I feel like I'm sleeping on a cloud, it's so comfy!

Rachel brought chocolate cake and I made carrot sheet cake for the birthday boy.

The kids made tons of cards for Daddy, and he was so thoughtful and sentimental as he opened them. All the kids got big smooches in return.

Some things we love about our Daddy... he is so silly! He recently tried to hold all 240 pounds of kids at once.

Mike recently went on a trip to Atlanta for 5 days. His dad had his 7th heart attack and it was quite a scare (he flat lined at the hospital and had to be resuscitated) so Patti encouraged everyone to come see him. Rebecca, Rachel and Mike flew out together and enjoyed time visiting and sight-seeing. They sorted through a lot of issues, health and emotional, and grew together a lot.

Mike and Rachel on top of Stone Mountain!

These pictures are of our reunion when he returned home... we sure missed him!!! The kids made Welcome home banners and signs and hung them outside.

There is nothing quite the same as wrestle time with Dad. We sure love our guy!
