Ella's Mommy Daughter Date

I.m not sure if I ever wrote about our new family tradition of having a parent-child date every month. This new goal comes from a talk by Elder Ballard about family councils. They boys have both had a turn with Dad, and July was Ella's turn with Mom.

She decided she wanted to ice skate! She loved it at Christmas time and has always wanted to go back.

She held onto the wall for about 30 seconds and then she was off!

Pretty soon she was doing turns and arabesques and all sorts of tricky stuff!

She loved watching a real ice skater do her routines and spins in the middle, and it made her more bold. In fact, a skating teacher pulled me aside and said her confidence would make her a great student, and gave me her info for skating lessons. Ella was over the moon and decided she wants to be an Olympic figure skater.

We ended the night with dipped cones at Dairy Queen. I love how sweet my kids are one on one. They probably think I'm a lot nicer alone too!
