My little Ella Bella... what can I say about her to describe her personality? She is usually sweet, sometimes sour, very smart, and just as silly... she has a great giggle and loves a joke. She looks up to Maddie, picks on Ty (but can have fun with him if she tries), and dotes on baby Jake. She is a super duper helper, probably my best when she's in the mood. Our family is blessed to have her in it!
Well this girl turned 6, even though I told her not to. She made her own countdown on the wall and crossed off each day, although she still got a little sad when I told her goodnight the night before her birthday and said it was the last time I'd kiss my 5 year old girl (I'm nostalgic like that). But when we woke up the next morning, she was all excitement!
We let her open one present before school because it was something to wear. Well two things... and Elsa shirt, and an Elsa dress-up!
The boys and I went to her kindergarten class and took a book to read and donate (her favorite Frozen book), and snowflake Dove chocolates. She was only the second birthday of the year so she felt pretty special.
Ella adores Mrs. Kendall. I love how she can command her classroom with a soft voice. She's amazing.
We came home from school to a wonderful surprise... cousins! I didn't tell Ella they were coming. They got to eat lunch together (Ella requested Spaghettio's... ew) and play all day.
They all got dressed up in their finest for the party.
We had a lot of fun decorating. I found huge snowflakes at the dollar store, and we've been making paper snowflakes for a few weeks. I even found an old bottle of fake snow and frosted the windows a little. Our dining room is the perfect color to look frozen.
A friend of ours had the Frozen character cutouts in her basement from a stake dance, so she let us borrow them. I enjoyed making some chalkboard art for a photo spot (Ella wrote her own name).
The cake was simple but made a big show. We ordered the stairs from a wedding cake shop on Amazon and rock crystal suckers created a fun ice castle.
And then the party began! We started with crafts to keep the kids busy. One table did ice crystal painting with Epsom salts while the other made crowns, and then we switched. Good thing Auntie Noelle was there to help me!
While everyone was finishing I read the Frozen book again. Just then Daddy walked in!
Ella was very happy he could come home for her party.
The kids were all anxious to do presents. I tried really hard to keep it organized and have the person giving the item sit next to the birthday girl, but things got out of hand quickly!
Everyone just gets to excited and starts crowding around.
Ella tried to get away from it and they followed... cracked me up. This gift was from Maddie and she wanted to be tricky so she wrapped her tiny necklace box in a big box.
Then came cake! Happy Birthday dear Ella, may all your wildest dreams come true!
I'm not sure what she wished for when she blew out the candles, but a wish did get granted when the door bell rang. Mike videotaped Ella's reaction as she walked toward the door to see Elsa herself enter. She swept in and gave Ella a huge hug, and Ella was so surprised and awestruck she couldn't speak... she was frozen! It was priceless.
Elsa told us her story while we ate our cake.
Then she crowned Ella a true princess with her very own coronation and had us say "All hail Princess Ella."
We moved to the living room and played a bracelet game. She played "Let it Go" while passing a bracelet and whoever held it when the music stopped kept it, until everyone got one.
It was awesome to have my sisters and the cousins there. Dana had asked Ella what she wanted awhile ago (she said Elsa pajamas) so she was pleased that Dana remembered.
Then it was time for the photo shoot and Elsa took pictures with each child.
At the end she sang "Let it Go" with them, and she has a beautiful voice!
Ella was completely sure she was real. She kept asking me to ask Elsa to show us her powers. I told her she can only use them outside, so she insisted we go outside. I asked Elsa about it and she said she made some snow on the way here but it melted. Auntie Dana pointed out there is some still on the mountains. I love Ella's sweet believing heart. She felt so special that Elsa came to her birthday party.
That night we had a family dinner and Grandma Osmond gave her some fun books. Grandpa Andrews and Grandma Patti sent a sweet card with money, something Ella looks forward to putting in her piggy bank every year.
The next day the tardy UPS man dropped off another package from Grandma and Grandpa Jensen. It was fun that the birthday continued a little longer.
This is one spoiled girl! Thanks everyone for all the love!
