Y is for Cougars!!!

It just so happened that we still needed a Y in Maddie's handmade alphabet the same week that BYU has their first game. She is already a die hard fan and thought this was the coolest thing ever! She can't wait to wear her cougar shirt on Saturday and watch football with Daddy.

I must say Maddie is getting really good at coloring in the lines. She concentrated really hard on this one.


Every time she sees the Y on the mountain she yells, "Mommy, BYU!" We have her thoroughly brainwashed. (Incidentally, the trees don't look like this yet but I am sooooo excited to be here for fall this year!)

Since I haven't posted pictures of this in awhile, I thought I would catch up on the letters we have done lately. We are almost done with the uppercase alphabet, and I think I am going to put them in a binder and make our own little handmade ABC book.

I have to say that it really helps with letter recognition, and she loves having the time with mom making something fun. We try to read whatever books we have that correspond to reinforce the lesson, like ABC books or books with the animal or object in them. It's fun because we'll be driving down the road and she will announce when she sees letters, like K in Circle K and and S for Smith's.

I just have to add a little funny from today... Maddie loves candy machines (curse of a mom's world!) and I never have quarters. We saw some at the bank today and I told her that I didn't have any money, so she did some problem solving in her head and told me, "We'll have to buy some money and get some candy sometime." So cute!

The next post is going to be all about Ella. She needs some spotlight too!
