Okay, enough with the complaining... yesterday I decided it was time for a field trip. Maddie loves a chance just to put her shoes on, say bye-bye, and get in the car! We went to Babies R Us to test drive some double stollers. My friend Jeanie loves her sit-and-stand stoller where the toddler can stand in the back, and I have also been looking at Graco doubles. Honestly, I am leaning toward the Graco to avoid the trouble of keeping Maddie contained, but I would love to hear from any of you with multiple kidlets!

Boredness aside, it has been a week of triumph for Maddie! Monday morning I got the sweaty palms and racing heart... and knew it was time to take away the beloved binki for naps and bedtime. I'm not gonna lie, we both cried when she discovered it didn't work anymore. Her little heart was broken, and it broke my heart to purposely do that to her!!! There was a lot of crying the first few days, but it is getting better. She understood they were 'broken' and helped us throw them in the garbage. She just went down for a nap with only a few peeps! That's my girl!
This melted my heart... she watches me pray in the mornings and is apparently catching on! It's amazing what little ones pick up from you. Makes me think I should always be careful!

I really wanted a sit and stand, but I actually ended up buying the same Graco you pictured. Try putting you carrier/carseat on the sit n stand and you'll see why I didn't get it. There's no room for the toddler in back with it on. I love the graco. It's HUGE mind you, but whatta ya gunna do...it's a double stroller after all.
Sorry for the boredom. My kids can sympathize. Poor cooped up kiddos. I don't get out much these days. I have a solution. Move to Boise, and we'll hang out nonstop. :)
Come out here and visit us if you're bored! You can stay here for free! And we'll find all sorts of things for you to do. Ava would love it.
Maddie looks so much older with her hair done like that! I love her praying it's so cute, wait til she starts talking and repeating what you say, that's when you have to be careful. Kenzie gets so frustrated when Brooklyn gets her things so I tell her if she doen't want her to have them to keep them where she can't get them, one day I left my purse on the floor and Brookyln got in it and pulled everything out, wanna guess what Kenzie said to me?
Oh my gosh I just ran the double stroller gauntlet. For like a year. The problem with the sit-n-stand (I really REALLY really wanted one) is the older child has to be at least 2 1/2... So I thought Kate was close enough but after watching how fast she gets tired and also how she falls asleep in the stroller, I realized it's too early. I FINALLY bought a discontinued Jeep double stroller model which is a gargantuan beast but I love it... so far! PS I tried to retire Kate's pacifier that she uses for bed the other day and it didn't work... I gave in and gave it back to her... So maybe I'll have to "break" hers also! That would surely do the trick!...
If I could do it all over again I would buy the same stroller. I don't agree that there's no room for the toddler with the baby seat on, but you have seen it many, many times. I think that the Graco one probably looks more appealing now, but in the future it might be a little more trying to get Maddie to sit in it. I don't know, if it's all she knows and you do it every day it will probably be fine. I just know that both of my girls love riding in the back, they seem to feel a little independence or something.
I'm sorry that you're so bored. I've been spoiled with almost a year of beautiful weather, I know it will hit me this winter when we're stuck inside, especially to check your blog.
We have loved pbskids.org lately, even London loves to watch the games, it might be worth a try and they are really educational. Have you tried story time with them? The one over by Jenn with the carosel is super fun, and you could have an excuse to get together with Jenn.
I was sad to see your Mt Charleston post, I told Devin "that should be us with them up there" oh well, what are you going to do?
Oh yeah, did you hear about the Karosy's baby? I'm not exactly sure what the story is but I do know that she's had some heart problems and been in the hospital for a while. I'll let you know what I hear. Maybe I should have just emailed you...this is so long.
We went with the double graco. I wanted to be able to snap on the baby seat because it is so much easier than waking up an infant. Also the sit and stand is cute when Jo uses it with Sophie but Will has to be strapped down or there is no hope. The problem with the double graco is steering! All of the weight definitely needs to be in the back..and it is much easier to steer if you don't have the infant carrier attached. We just went and bought another umbrella stroller for when Bryce and I are out together because they fit in small places much easier...and like I said Will has to be strapped down at all times in public! This = my 2 cents.
PS: from the picture that graco double appears to be a lot more streamlined than the huge used one I bought...so maybe the steering is not so much of an issue.
I love the picture of Maddie praying! That is the cutest thing ever. On the stroller ... Have you looked at any Phil & Ted's strollers? They're quite expensive, but they totally rock. And you can use it as a double or single stroller as kids outgrow it. Everyone I know that invests in one absolutely loves it!
Sad you had to take away the binki, but what do I do with a daughter who sucks her fingers? How do I break her of that habit??? Oh, we'll deal with that when the time comes. I understand you being bored. There is no way around it sometimes. I get bored for Ava sometimes, but then Brad reminds me that it is ok to have her play on her own too so she developes her imagination. I love the picture of Maddie praying. That is precious.
Double stroller, all the way! =) Just my opinion ... Avery was (and still seems to be) young enough to enjoy the ride and the "school- bus-like" style of travel. They have so much room and there's so much flexibility it seems. We still take the double if we go for long walks, and the girls switch off with who's in front and who's in back. They love it! Anyway ... if it's any consolation, we're bored too! =( These are tough months here. Also, i LOVE the picture of Maddie praying! That's the cutest thing ever!
The picture of Maddie praying is the sweetest thing! What a good mommy to be such a great example, even when you may not realize it. See you tonight!
A friend invited us to the hands on museum today, the girls had a lot of fun. They had a really cool toddler area. I know that there's one in Vegas, it's in the ghetto, but it's supposed to be really fun. You could give them a call and see if they have a toddler area. Mike would love it to!
i don't know anything about the stroller, but i do know that Maddie is flippin adorable! She does look older with her hair like that... such a pretty little girl. Love you sis!
Oh... my little cuteness! I love her bow and shoes! Don't worry... I am bored ALL the time. I can't believe you're about to buy a double stroller. I remember thinking that there couldn't possibly be anyone else but Maddie.... but it just keeps growing. Miss you!
Maddie is looking sooo grown up, I love her hair to the side. I'm sorry that the binky was such an ordeal. she won't even think of it soon. I remember how hard it was for Noelle.
I wish I could come straight there from here in Memphis. Dry hot would be a relief after this sauna, and I'd love to come be bored with you, Alas, it's not to be, but I can dream.
Kisses to all of you, Grandma J
Be careful about saying you are bored. That's what I said before I was blessed with my twiners. . .I have learned my lesson-lol.
Maddie looks so cute in her bow and new shoes. The picture of her praying is so cute too. Congrats on losing the binky! What a big girl Maddie is becoming. I can't believe that you're already half way through your pregnancy. Seems like you were just telling us you were pregnant.
