My friend Melinda tagged me to write 6 interesting things about myself, and since the dominant theme in my life is currently BABY, it seems appropriate to write about my new role as MOMMY!
1. I have learned there is no one right answer. Period. Whatever your concern, ask 5 different people and get 5 different answers. Look in the books or online, same thing. When it comes to parenting, personal experience is everything, so I guess I have to get my own!
2. I love baby eyes. When Maddie was still just a figment of my imagination, I couldn't wait to see her little toes--baby toes are adorable. But now the feature that steals my heart is her eyes...I love her awake time when she looks around, goes cross eyed, and soaks up the world around her. I can't wait to see if they'll be blue!
3. You will never understand how new mothers feel until you are one. Having watched zillions of friends have babies, I thought I knew what I was in for, but when it's your body, your aches and pains, and your responsibility to feed the baby, it's different. Despite our relatively trouble-free transition to life with baby, I have deep appreciation for what women have been doing since the beginning of time. I love being a mom, but I won't lie--it's hard.
4. Everyone tells you to rest--sleep when baby sleeps, take 3 one hour naps a day, don't go anywhere for awhile, etc. etc. This is good advice (and I have tried to take it easy) but the best spirit-booster for me has been doing things! I love going on walks in the sunshine or cooking a good meal. We went to church on Sunday for the 1st time and it made me so happy. I think even if I lost an hour of sleep over it, I'd choose to feel like myself.
5. I love baby clothes! It never fails to thrill me to dress Maddie up in a cute outfit. (Good thing I love them because she has a truckload...and I get to do the laundry.)
6. One of my favorite things about having a baby is watching Mike be a daddy. He adores Maddie, and even that is an understatement. He loves to snuggle with her as much as he used to love to snuggle with me! :) He is very protective of her. He reminded me yesterday to make sure her car seat was snapped in properly when we ran an errand. As if I wouldn't have...I'm the mommy!
There's also a few more pictures for your enjoyment. Maddie seems to be getting chubbier by the minute and has already outgrown newborn sizes. Today she had her first 'big girl' bath since her belly button fell off, and she loved it!!! She didn't make a peep until I took her out and the cold air hit her. She's such a little cutie!

Can you believe people start out so little! It seems like a long time since Will was such a little guy...but it has only been 20 months. sigh
Good six! I love the one about "no right answer". It is absolutely so true, yet so many people think they have it. Sometimes I think I have the answer... then my boys waste no time proving me wrong. :) Sometimes trial and error is all we have. It makes you so grateful for mother's intuition and a Heavenly Father who knows our babies better than we do. You are doing great!
I just had to laugh at Maddie's hairbow malfunction. Emma had a few of those episodes. And I love Maddie's juicy cheeks! Just want to munch them!
It is so true that there are so many different answers out there. Everyone's experiences has been different. It's nice to hear them and read a whole bunch of books to determine what works and what doesn't. Sometimes you wish the process didn't take so long or wasn't so painful in figuring out how to take of those little people. So I'm rambling now...but you are a great mom and Mike is a great dad!
I just wanted to say hello! I cna't believe how big she has gotten! That is how life will be though, isn't it? Every time I will see her, she'll be different. I miss my cute little niece and can't wait to see you guys again! Love you!
She is sooo cute Lauren! I have been checking your little blog since she was born, about every couple days. I just cant wait for our little girl to get here! Your pictures are making me so antsy. I bet you are a fantastic mom and I just hope that Kinsey will be as adorable as little Maddie :) Congratulations!
Maddie is so stinkin' cute!! Good job guys!! :) Kissing soft cheeks is the best ever. She's growing so fast! I can't wait to see her! Congrats. Love all the pictures!
