Remington Koralee Guthrie's Blessing

July 1st was Grandpa Randy's birthday, and we got to see him since we were all gathering for Emily's new baby's blessing.

My dad loves dry humor, so I sent him this image on his birthday. It tickled his funny bone!

That night Dad chose the Sandpiper Restaurant for his birthday dinner. I felt little guilty that he treated us to such a nice dinner on his day, especially when Jake and Ty's humongous 'kiddie' burgers came! But the steak, halibut, salmon, crab, ans shrimp was all delectable!

We all headed back to the hotel to swim and have birthday cake. It was a nice place with suites so the kids basically had their own room, and we all slept well.

The blessing day was so lovely. Emily is such a beautiful mama. I was sad that I didn't get to hold baby Remi at all because Kate had a nasty cold that we didn't want to share. Waaaaahh.

Remi's dress was made by Grandma Marcia, of course! And she made Kate a darling buffalo checked romper from the same material. I am in love!!!

Ella found more kitties to love on. This one is named Scorch, and she got pretty attached. She can't stop talking about her, and right when we got home she drew a picture of her and hung it on the fridge. Poor girl will get a cat someday.

We can't forget that Grandma Jean made a darling quilt! Remi's nursery is all pineapples, and it turned out so sweet!

Lehi Round-Up Parade 2017

This year we were asked to help with the ward float. Since I knew what being in charge entailed, I said yes! Luckily we ended up with a much simpler theme idea than last time, and it came together easily.

Dry Creek Ward presents "I Spy the Roots of Lehi!" One of our committee suggested a farm, since that's classic Lehi, and then we came up with the roots idea, and the silhouette of roots on burlap came to me for the banners. We thought of the Cox Farm in our ward that is a Utah Heritage Farm, and they agreed to ride on the float in rocking chairs. It all turned out so perfect, and we won 3rd place!

Maddie was asked to be the horse, and Mike and the Bishopric were asked to be Poop Patrol! It was really hilarious to watch the crowd when Maddie would drop a poop, and then the guys would make a show of picking it up. Mike had a switch trick where he would reach in the wheelbarrow and hold out poop to the crowd, and then around the back throw candy.

The second day of the parade Ty was able to ride on the float as a duck.

I didn't get a good picture, but there were a lot of kids who walked in the middle dressed as cowgirls and boy and they did a line dance to the Boot Scootin Boogey at every intersection. It was definitely entertaining!

Proud of my little farm kids! They deserved those Creamies.

Birthdays and Father's Day

Dana and my birthday landed on Father's Day this year, which I guess happens once every seven years, if I am guessing right? So Dana invited my parents to come visit, and then ended up invited Landon's parents as well because he got called to serve in the Bishopric and was ordained a high priest by his dad. It turned into a party weekend all around!

First i should mention that Thursday the 16th I met up with my old roomies and best friends Erin and Joanna for our annual birthday dinner. I had just read "The Orphan Keeper" and was dying to try Indian food, and they were both game so they ordered us up a feast of the best items. The coconut curry was my favorite, but it was all to die for!

Then we walked down toward Center and got ice cream cones, then ended up on the Provo City Center temple grounds to chat the evening away. As Erin put it in her calendar for her husband, "Erin sees the Nurse." We all need that time away to re-charge, laugh, and commiserate with like-minded people!

On Saturday my mom took Dana and I to lunch at In-N-Out, and then shopping at Nordstrom Rack and Called to Surf in Orem. I was able to find the most beautiful things... blush colored sneakers, white jeans, a tan leather bag... and we felt so spoiled.

That night we met up with the whole gang and ate at a yummy new pizza place called Summit Inn.

Grandpa showed the girls his famous disappearing bouncy ball trick.

Mikey played with Kate on the grass. This guy has given me a life better than I could have dreamed. We are so lucky he's ours!

This is kind of a dark photo, but I just love it.

Sunday morning Grandma and my dear daughters got up early and made french toast and bacon for Father's Day and my birthday. It was so nice to have them serve us!

After church we opened gifts. Mike wrote the funniest card in scripture versing, and gave me the most thoughtful gifts... spoons and measuring cups, a baseball mit, the sandals I was eyeing, the cookies we had on our first date, my favorite chocolates... he was very sweet.

Then the kids got out all their cards and gifts for Daddy.

Our big gift was a bit of a flop... I ordered a metal frame for Mike's hammock that I gave him a decade ago, but if didn't arrive until the next day! And when it did arrive, it was too short and we had to send it back. Sad.

We headed over to Dana's house for dinner. I took a picture as usual because our dinners together are the yummiest ever.

Mom made the cake for us like the olden days!

Us kids went in together and gave Dad an Echo with Alexa, because he had a good time playing with Noelle's. Hopefully he likes it!

We spent the evening playing outside. The kids found neighbor kitties and died and went to heaven.

Ont he way home I grabbed the mail and found that Noelle had sent me this beautiful skirt.

Kate loved it too!

On top of all this my neighborhood friends had a little girl's night for me, and I got so many well wishes, gifts, and love. It was a very Happy Birthday!
